SUMMARY



The Finishing Operator is under the leadership of the Print Production Manager. This position plays a key role in the printing process. The Finishing Operator will set up and operate various programmable bindery equipment which may include MBO folder (multiple folds, scoring, perforating, scoring, folding and gluing), programmable cutter, UV coater and an inserter/folder. The finishing operator runs the equipment making the necessary adjustments and customization of the mechanics on the folder to meet customers order requirements. They have independence to inaugurate the most efficient way to run product for the utmost quality and safest manner. They observe, monitor and operate equipment to determine if adjustments are needed. This position makes the adjustments along with basic maintenance and troubleshooting.



RESPONSIBILITIES



Listing of essential functions (In order of importance)


  • Set-up, operation, and maintenance of the folding equipment.

  • Monitor and maintain quality by following company processes and customer expectations.

  • Provide oversight, direction, and training to general workers or temporary staff members assigned to assist in the folding area.

  • Perform other bindery and related functions as the need arises.

  • Basic maintenance and troubleshooting.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Must be a team player and willing to train others.

  • Must be able to stand continuously through 8-12 hour shift.

  • Excellent attendance record.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • High School Degree or GED required

  • Requires minimum 3 years of MBO experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of the job, the associate is required on a daily basis to analyze and interpret data, communicate, and remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the work day; and frequently access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The associate is regularly required to move about the office and print production facility. The associate is occasionally required to travel to other sites, including out-of-state, where applicable, for business. The associate must frequently move up to 25-30 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds.



WORK ENVIRONMENT



The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While the job is generally performed in a print production environment, the associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, areas in which moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals are present, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the office environment is typically quiet, but the associate may be occasionally exposed to loud noise levels.



TRAVEL REQUIRED



Minimal travel is required for this position (up to 10% of the time and on a domestic basis).
