Lateral Press Operator - 1st Shift Job Title: Lateral Press Operator Description: Installs specified spacers between cones on the machine and ram; using measuring instruments. May set up and operate machine to separate or compress parts preparatory to assembly. May install gears and cams to synchronize the action of multiple ram, feed and position actions of automatic presses. Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or company management. Overall Purpose: Sets up and operates the lateral press to assemble steel products by crimping, shaping, locking, staking or press fitting. Essential Functions: \u00a0 1. Installs specified spacer on machine bed and ram, using hands and hand tools. 2. Moves controls to rower ram that bends, clinches, or forces parts together. 3. Operates machine to separate parts. Physical Demands & Frequency: Requires occasional heavy lifting, reaching, handling, fingering, and near acuity. A. Position: Standing. B. Weights & Force: Up to 75 pounds. C. Use of Controls: Operates lateral press. General Educational Development: Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Information may be presented in written, oral or diagrammatic form and requires a common sense understanding to be applied in order to carry out the instructions. Qualifications\/Training: Candidate shall successfully complete training program and as applicable, qualification requirements, as defined by the responsible functional manager. The ability to set-up and interpret gauge equipment and readings is desired. New hires shall demonstrate satisfactory performance during new hire probationary period. Training: No experience necessary, on the job training provided. Aptitudes: Requires motor coordination and finger dexterity. Temperaments: Able to attain precise limits and standards. Environmental Conditions: Frequent impact noise, seasonal heat. Protective Clothing and Personal Devices: Safety glasses, gloves and safety shoes.
