Job Title Print Production Manager
The Print Production Manager (PPM) oversees the planning and execution of assigned print programs from conception through delivery. The PPM communicates relevant information to each team stakeholder, including but not limited to: Project specifications and budgets with Account team, production timing and schedules with Traffic department, concept development with the Creative team, and sourcing qualified vendors for our Client Purchasing Group. The PPM is well-versed in various aspects of printing equipment (offset sheetfed, and inline with variable imaging, commercial web; digital printing: sheetfed, roll/hi-speed, variable art/messaging), bindery, and fulfillment. Full knowledge of color separations. The PPM has knowledge of substrates (coated and uncoated papers, as well as synthetic products and other materials). Variable print techniques to include special coatings, finishing, and formats. The PPM has working knowledge of producing \trinkets and trash\. The PPM has basic knowledge of USPS mail piece design regulations and the ability to stay current and relay regulation changes to the project team as they relate to design and budgets. Overall, a proficient producer skilled in print execution and mail piece design, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Functions:20% Communicate updates to production timing and/or design considerations to team members.15% Ensure production timing meets schedule expectations and pricing falls within established budgets.15% Manage print prepress to include online and hard copy proofing.10% Prepares print production budget estimates, and upon approval, writes bid specs and submits them to the Client Sourcing group.10% Partner with Creative to develop award-worthy concepts utilizing the latest technologies and production techniques.5% Conduct project post mortems to make recommendations to internal team and external suppliers for process or quality improvements in necessary areas.5% Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management to include process improvements.5% Manage awarded suppliers to ensure they keep accurate inventory records as needed.3% Maintain Agency sample library of produced work and distribute within internal team as needed.2% Review artwork for reproduction quality. Provide retouching/color management direction to retouchers and prepress supplier.3% Attend local and out-of-town press-checks as needed.5% Act as a liaison between account management and creative team to facilitate all requests that come through Print Production2% Participate in special projects as directed by Management.
Education:Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field and/or equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
Experience:Five to seven years of experience in a Print Production Manager position with at least some direct mail experience.Bindery, fulfillment and distribution experience a plus.Base knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop).
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Site (Word, Excel, and Outlook).Color mark-up and experience attending/managing press checks.Strong attention to detail.Proven ability to effectively manage timelines and budgets.Effective communication across all levels of the agency, clients and suppliers.Travel Required (Approximate):
